
Okamoto was formed from the merger of four companies:Nippon Gum Industries,Ltd., Riken Rubber Co.,Ltd.,and Okamoto Rubber Co., Ltd., with our present name being adopted shortly after the merger. Okamoto is a cohesive and dynamic esterpise comprised of the ideas and techologies of each of the above companies. More than 70 years since its foundation, after a long history in the 20th century Okamoto continues to grow by leaps and bounds in 21st century.
| 1934 | January | The company was established with capital of 50,000 yen as Japan Rubber Industryin Tokyo. We started manufacturing rubberized clothes and raincoats.

| 1943 | July | The Ashikaga Factory began operation in Ashikaga-city, Tochigi Prefecture as a tank manufacturing plant. After World War II, it was transformed to a shoe manufacturing plant.

| 1949 | July | Okamoto Rubber Industries was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. |
| 1958 | February | Okamoto Rubber Industry merged with Riken Rubber Company Co., Ltd to form Nihon Riken Rubber Co., Ltd with a capital of 10 million yen. The name of Head office and the factory in Kamiya-cho,Kita-ku, Tokyo was renamed "Tokyo factory". |
| August | Osaka office opened. |

| 1961 | June | Head office was relocated to Hongo, Bunkyo-ku Tokyo. |
| August | Kanagawa factory began operation and the manufacturing production lines of vinyl film / vinyl leather were moved there from the Tokyo factory.

| October | As the Tokyo Stock Exchange second section market opened, we became a part of the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange market. |

| 1963 | September | Nagoya office opened. |
| October | Hong Kong office opened (now known as Okamoto Industries (H.K) LTD). |

| 1964 | April | Gunma factory opened in Ohta-city, Gunma-prefecture, and the manufacturing production lines of shoes were moved from the Ashikaga factory.

| 1966 | September | New head office was built. |
| 1968 | October | Merged with Okamoto Rubber Industry Co, LTD., and the trade name was changed to Okamoto Riken Rubber Inc. The capital was 1.99 billion yen.
