Promoting the Use of Green Energy
Boiler facilities are vital to our manufacturing process. We are proceeding with our transition to liquefied natural gas (LNG)—a form of green energy—to reduce our burden on the natural environment to the highest extent possible.
We completed the transition to LNG for boiler fuel at our Ibaraki Plant in December 2007, and at our Shizuoka Plant in August 2014.
Planting Green Curtains
Green curtains absorb carbon dioxide through the process of photosynthesis and prevent strong summer sunlight from entering indoor spaces. Thus, we plant them to improve the efficiency of our air conditioning. We have taken the initiative to plant green curtains of bitter gourd, loofa, morning glory, and other varieties on the buildings of three domestic plants (Shizuoka, Ibaraki and Fukushima).
Using Renewable Energy
The proactive use of renewable energy is an integral part of realizing a sustainable society, and is an ideal way to strike a balance between supply and demand for electric power. We are implementing a power generation project that involved the installation of solar panels on the expansive 57,000m2 site of our former Gunma Plant. The panels generate up to 4,000 kW of electric power.
